Serra S. Bruno

Serra San Bruno dates back to the arrival of the monk Bruno of Cologne, founder of the Order of the Carthusians, who devoted his life to the search for God in silence and solitude and received, by Count Ruggiero the Norman, the territories that are today geographically identified as the plateau of the Serre Calabre, for the construction of its hermitage, the Charterhouse of St. Stephen in the Wood, the first monastery of Italy and second in Europe after that of Grenoble, France.
